Reach for Education's Mission
My mission is to provide students living in Jamaica with the educational resources they will need to learn and succeed in the classroom.
Having basic school supplies is a major issue for families living in poverty, because it is not seen as a necessity but an additional expense. Nonetheless, children need school supplies because it enables them to engage in classroom activities and learn. The lack of basic school supplies or educational resources exacerbate a high rate of absenteeism among children living in poverty.
A quarter of Jamaica's children live in poverty. Therefore, obtaining basic school supplies can make a difference in these children's lives by contributing to their future success.
Reach for Education, Inc. seeks to improve the academic achievement among children from low socio-economic neighborhoods who struggle to attend school and learn.
Providing basic school supplies gives children the opportunity to engage in classroom activities and learn, which is the first step to overcoming poverty.
According to UNICEF, most school-age Jamaican children are enrolled in school but regular attendance for five consecutive week days is a challenge for some. Students from rural and economically disadvantage communities have lower attendance than students in other locations and consumption groups. Access to quality education is fundamental; it is an investment in the future; it is sowing the seeds of human dignity in every child.
Reach for Education, Inc. seeks to improve the academic achievement among low-income children who struggle to attend school and learn. The Reach for Education, Inc. nonprofit organization is established to provide these students with the equal opportunity to obtain an education and achieve success.
Donating school supplies are essential because children need them to learn, which is the first step to overcoming poverty. Having adequate school supplies can significantly help pave a bright and successful future for children. Studies have shown that children having school supplies of their own can improve their grades, creativity, attitude and behavior towards learning, peer relationships and self-image. Essentially, a notebook and pencil could be the gateway to a bright and promising future for a child and even a community.
